"Mommy! You're like rainbow girl," my daughter exclaimed, taking notice of the way my hair was shining in the light that streamed through the window. "There's brown and yellow and a little orange and silver. So much silver!"

I didn't really want to hear about my head of many colors. Clearly, it was beyond time to touch up my roots.

I stood in front of the mirror that night, plastic bottle of goo in my hands, and thought about all the years when I had nary a strand of the gray stuff and yet colored my hair anyway.

In the reflection, it was hard to miss the wrinkles settling into the corners of my eyes and faint lines on my forehead. It struck me that I'm barreling into middle age like a freight train.

The next day at the store, I stood befuddled in the health and beauty aisle, taking in the shelves stacked with "age-defying moisturizer" and face creams that claimed they would "erase fine lines" and "smooth deep wrinkles."

This is a post I found the other day that I identified with straight away! There must be many many people out there that feel this way.
